Waterloo West’s Wilson, McConaughy claim top spots in 3A individual bowling state tournament

The State Co-ed Bowling Tournament got underway in Waterloo yesterday.

Waterloo West junior Sydney Wilson bested freshman teammate Ainslee McConaughy to capture the Girls’ 3A individual state bowling title.

The title was the first given out under the new format which brackets the top eight from the morning games in to a three round afternoon tournament.

Wilson and McConaughy, the top two seeds, met after winning in the first two rounds. The junior defeated the freshman in the championship match 262-225.

The State Tournament continues today with the 1A Individual Tournament and the 2A Team Tournament.
