Two Teens Arrested After Separate Stolen Vehicle Reports

Early Tuesday morning, Cedar Falls Police pursued two separate stolen vehicles. Shortly after 7 a.m. they received a call from a resident of the 4600 block of Gloria Street reporting that their white Toyota SUV had been stolen from their garage.  Officers patrolling the area intercepted the stolen vehicle along with a second vehicle, a black Dodge Charger that had been stolen the previous morning from Neola Street in Cedar Falls.  The white Toyota evaded officers traveling southbound on Highway 58 near the intersection with Greenhill Road where it struck another vehicle and crashed. The vehicle was disabled and the 16-year old driver was taken into custody shortly after. The black Dodge eluded officers in the general residential area near the University of Northern Iowa. That vehicle was abandoned in the 1500 block of Columbia Drive and the driver fled on foot. The 16-year old was later located by University of Northern Iowa Police and detained near the intersection of West 31st Street and Hudson Road just before 8:00AM.  There were no injuries in either of the pursuits.  One teen was charged with felony eluding, two counts of first degree theft, one count of second degree burglary, and one count of operating without the owner’s consent.  The other teen was charged with felony eluding, as well as one count each of first degree theft and second degree burglary.  Both have been referred to Juvenile Court Services.
