Michigan-based Catholic health care system Trinity Health is purchasing all facilities and assets of MercyOne Health System. Since 1998, MercyOne has operated under a joint agreement between not-for-profit catholic health care organizations Trinity Health and CommonSpirit Health. Trinity and CommonSpirit made the announcement Tuesday that they have signed an agreement for Trinity to become the sole parent of MercyOne’s assets. The MercyOne system includes hospitals locally in Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Oelwein. Spokesman Adam Amdor says there will be no new name change for the facilities, even with the change that occurred three years ago from Covenant Medical Center to MercyOne.
