Waterloo Police Chief Fitzgerald Finalist For Vancouver, WA Chief Post

Waterloo Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald is a finalist for another Police Chief position, this time in Vancouver, Washington. On the city’s website, the City of Vancouver has released the names of the five finalists, one of whom will replace longtime Chief of Police, James McElvain, who retires on June 30. Fitzgerald has been the Police Chief in Waterloo since June of 2020, but has applied for several Police Chief positions during his time here, including open jobs in Miami, Albuquerque, Memphis and Austin, Texas. Three of the finalists for the Police Chief job in Vancouver are current members of the Vancouver Police Department. The Waterloo City Council had two weeks ago delayed a vote on a new contract for Chief Fitzgerald, which would include a pay raise.
