On Thursday in Cedar Falls, was the annual John Milton Overman Business and Industry Appreciation Awards luncheon. Several Cedar Falls businesses were honored at the event at the Hilton Garden Inn, including Community Bank and Trust and L&N Transportation Services each for the Re-investor award, Starbeck’s Smokehouse, Scratch Cupcakery and Slumberland for the Continued Investor award, George’s Local on West 4th in Cedar Falls earned the New Investor award, The Quality of Life Award went to River Place Plaza, the Energy Innovation award went to Community Motors, and the Representative Citizen for 2022 was Jim Newcomb, North Cedar Neighborhood Association president. Newcomb explains what being named this year’s “Representative Citizen” means to him.
Newcomb says having a good group of volunteers helps to inspire others to get involved.
