The first day of the boys state golf tournament took place yesterday in Ames. 3A, 2A, and 1A competition are being held at three-different courses.
In 3A, Waverly-Shell Rock senior Hogan Hansen has a five-shot lead after the first round. He made five birdies and an eagle and shot a 3-under 69.
In 2A, Hudson is tied with Dyersville Beckman for first-place in the team score with a 309. Individually, Denver’s Clayton Liddle is tied for 3rd-place with a 72, only 3-shots off the lead.
And in 1A, Daniel Stahl of AGWSR is in 4th-place after a first round 81 and is five shots off the lead.
