The two finalists for the Cedar Falls Police Chief position have been revealed. A total of seven candidates applied for the position since June 2022, though one withdrew himself from the running. Of the six other applicants, four met the qualifications for the position. After a Civil Service review, Mark Howard and Jeff Sitzmann have been announced as the final two candidates. Sitzmann has been with Cedar Falls Public Safety since 1996, Howard has been with CFPS since 2007, and has been the acting police chief since March. A meet-and-greet of the two candidates will be held in October, with Director of Public Safety Craig Berte making a recommendation to the Mayor and City Administrator in late October.
