Hawkeye Community College Trustees Sets March Date for Bond Referendum

Early next year, voters in Hawkeye Community College’s 10-county service area will go to the polls for a $35 million bond referendum. The college’s board of trustees this week approved a March 7th, 2023 vote date for a referendum that would allow for renovation and expansion of two of the college’s main halls, Butler Hall and Bremer Hall, for skilled trades and apprenticeship programs, as well as for law enforcement training and STEM education. School officials say this would continue a levy rate overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2015.
