Arrest Made After Late Night Saturday Car Chase

Choate Faces Variety of Charges

An area man is facing a variety of charges after leading law enforcement on a chase in Black Hawk County overnight.  The chase began around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on University Ave. in Cedar Falls when an officer tried to stop a speeding vehicle. The driver refused to pull over, leading authorities on a chase that went on south Highway 58 and east on Highway 20, into Waterloo.  The vehicle eventually pulled into a driveway on Dysart Road after hitting stop sticks, and attempted to take off again, hitting three police vehicles in the process. The driver, 32-year old Brandon Choate, was taken into custody when he got out of the vehicle and allegedly tried to run from officers.   Police say there were no injuries during the pursuit.  Cedar Falls, Waterloo and Hudson police officers, along with Black Hawk County sheriff’s deputies were all involved in the chase. Choate is in the Black Hawk County Jail facing charges of eluding, 3rd offense OWI, driving while barred and driving while revoked.
