Beck Tabbed As New Waterloo Fire Chief

Official Swearing-In Set for Tuesday Afternoon

The City of Waterloo announced Friday that Battalion Chief William Beck will be the new fire chief.  Beck has risen through the ranks with Waterloo Fire Rescue since his start there in 2004. Beck has completed Hawkeye Community College’s Paramedic and EMT-B programs. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Fire Executive Leadership with a focus on Public Administration from Columbia Southern University. Beck will be officially sworn in as Fire Chief on March 14th at 3:30PM in Waterloo City Hall. He replaces Pat Treloar, who retired in December.

At the same swearing-in ceremony, new 4th Ward Councilperson Belinda Creighton-Smith will also be formally sworn in. Creighton-Smith won the special election for the council seat March 7th.
