Week 1 Metro & (Ranked) Area High School Football Scoreboard

Week 1 of the high school football season kicked off tonight and in games involving Metro schools;

Dyersville Beckman Catholic defeated (1A) Waterloo Columbus Catholic, 49-6,

(5A) Waterloo West defeated (4A) Waterloo East, 50-7,

(8-P) Cedar Ridge Christian fell short at Northwood-Kensett, 32-26,

and (5A) #8 Cedar Falls suffered a narrow loss at #5 Iowa City Liberty, 15-14.

In games involving ranked area teams;

(8-P) 7th-ranked Clarksville fell at Edgewood-Colesburg, 65-14,

(8-P) 3rd-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck defeated Janesville, 55-0,

2nd-ranked Iowa Valley bested (8-P) #6 Don Bosco, 49-34,

and (1A) top-ranked Grundy Center extended its winning streak to 40 games with a 35-13 win over Aplington-Parkersburg.
