Two Area Teams Win at Girls State Tennis Team Tournament Monday

The high school girls State Tennis Team Tournament got underway yesterday with a pair of area schools involved.

In the Class 2A tournament at Waukee Northwest, Cedar Falls upset 3-seed Johnston in the quarterfinals, 5-3. The Tigers now face West Des Moines Valley in the semifinals. 

In the Class 1A tournament in Pella, Dike-New Hartford knocked off Spencer, 5-3, in the quarterfinals. The Wolverines take on top-seed Cedar Rapids Xavier in the semifinals.

The girls State Tennis Team Tournament continues today with action beginning this morning at 9.
