Vicki Chats with Andrea Dellit and Lydia Gessner of the Cedar Valley Angels

Andrea Dellit, Executive Director, Cedar Valley Angels

Today I have the joy of introducing someone who brings equal parts heart, hustle, and humor to everything she does. Andrea Dellit is a foster and adoptive mama, a trauma-informed care advocate, and a proud 90s kid with a deep love for music, baseball, and movie marathons with her family. After more than two decades in corporate America and years of community volunteering, Andrea knew she was ready for something more meaningful — and found her true calling with Cedar Valley Angels, where she now helps lead life-changing support for foster children and families. She’s also an educator through Four Oaks, where she teaches trauma-informed foster care classes. Oh — and if you ever need a concert buddy or someone to geek out over Dave Grohl with? She’s your girl. Please welcome the incredibly inspiring, ever-dedicated Andrea Dellit!

Lydia Gessner, Development Coordinator, Cedar Valley Angels

Also joining me today is someone who radiates compassion and purpose in everything she does. Lydia Gessner is a small-town Iowa girl turned foster care advocate, with a deep love for Jesus, road trips, rainy day runs, and meaningful conversations over coffee. A former collegiate athlete, Lydia knows the power of community — and now brings that same spirit of belonging and support to her work with Cedar Valley Angels. Lydia’s own journey through grief has given her a profound understanding of healing, empathy, and the importance of showing up for others. Whether she’s running beside a friend or her boyfriend, sipping on a steaming cup of coffee, or walking alongside a foster family, Lydia is passionate about helping people feel seen, supported, and loved. Please welcome the incredible Lydia Gessner!

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
