Vicki Chats: Ashley Ungs, Director of Community Engagement at Western Home Communities

Today’s guest is someone who truly knows how to bring people together and turn events into unforgettable experiences. Ashley Ungs is the Director of Community Engagement at Western Home Communities, where she leads community relations and signature events that connect people across the Cedar Valley.

With a background spanning banking, retail, entertainment, and large-scale event planning. Ashley is also deeply invested in giving back, serving on the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley for over ten years, and the Community Impact Board for Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa.

Today, we’re diving into one of the most exciting events of the year—Swing into 2026, happening on New Year’s Eve from 6–10 PM at the Diamond Event Center—plus learning more about Ashley’s journey, inspirations, and a few fun surprises along the way. Let’s get into it!

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
