SARAH SCHMITZ
Today on the show, we’re joined by someone who is passionate about helping people reclaim their lives and reminding our community that recovery is always possible. Sarah Schmitz is the Provider Services Coordinator and Counselor at Pathways Behavioral Services. She’s a graduate of University of Northern Iowa and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor through the Iowa Board of Certification.
Over the past eight years, Sarah has served in a variety of roles at Pathways — from quality improvement and data reporting to medically assisted treatment and direct counseling care for individuals navigating addiction and recovery. She also works closely with hospitals, law enforcement, and community agencies to connect people with critical support services.
Sarah believes every recovery journey is unique, and today we’re diving into the realities, challenges, hope, and healing surrounding substance use recovery. Sarah, welcome to the show!
