Area Schools to Receive Iowa Volunteer Generation Fund ARP Grants

Several area schools will receive funding from the AmeriCorps Volunteer Generation Fund American Rescue Plan. Dike-New Hartford Schools and Cedar Valley Catholic Schools were selected to receive Youth Mentoring Grants. Grantees will be awarded $20,000 to support planning and starting new mentoring programs serving K-12 students. Funding will be provided for school staff time to develop a youth mentoring program in accordance with the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring with consulting provided by Iowa MENTOR, the Iowa Mentoring Partnership. Waterloo Community Schools will receive a $15,000 Youth Service-Learning Grant for the district’s LifeLab. The grant will support the development and strengthening of service learning programming.
