Waterloo House Damaged by Fire

Cause Pointed to Lightning Strike

No one was injured after a fire at a vacant house near downtown Waterloo Wednesday morning.  Firefighters say that a lightning strike was the likely cause of the blaze in the attic of 924 Lafayette Street around 7:00 AM as thunderstorms rolled through the area. Firefighters were able to put out the flames within a few minutes. The home was owned by Operation Threshold.
