Fire Damages Waterloo Home

UPDATE: The man inside the home was later pronounced dead.  His name has not been released as yet, pending notification of relatives.

A fire damaged a home in Waterloo Tuesday morning with a person and a dog inside. Waterloo Fire Rescue says crews were dispatched to the fire on the 500 block of Hope Avenue just after 9 AM. Smoke was seen coming from the home. Fire crews were successfully able to put out the flames. Fire officials say a person was inside the home at the time of the fire, but could not confirm a condition at this time. A dog found inside did not survive. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
