John Deere Waterloo Operations To Lay Off 300+ In Late April

Around 320 production employees will not report for work at John Deere’s Waterloo Operations on April 29th, as the company is placing them on indefinite layoff. Employees learned of the layoffs Tuesday during meetings led by factory leadership.  In a statement, John Deere officials say each of their factories “balances the size of its production workforce with the needs of the individual factory to optimize the workforce at each facility.” At present, John Deere Waterloo Operations have about 5,500 employees, 3,600 of which work in production and maintenance jobs.
