Waterloo Schools Board Reviews New Single High School Plans

Series of Town Hall Meetings Planned in Early 2024

The Waterloo Schools Board of Education reviewed the new high school plan for the first time Monday night. Last month, it was announced of plans to consolidate students into one new high school near Central Middle School by 2028. Waterloo East and West High Schools would be transitioned into middle schools for grades 8 and 9. The board unanimously approved recommending Invision architects to develop and design the possible new single high school for Waterloo. Superintendent Dr. Jared Smith says overall, community, staff and student response has been positive to the new plan, however, a series of town hall meetings about the plan will be held early next year.
