Fire Damages Waterloo Apartment

Blaze Confined to Top Floor Bedroom; Cause Unknown

Waterloo firefighters put out a fire at an apartment on Wednesday morning. According to Waterloo Fire Rescue, they received a report of the fire around 9:15 AM at West 9th and Leavitt Streets. The fire began after the occupants of the apartment left. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to a bedroom on the top floor of the apartment. No injuries were reported. The initial investigation points to the fire being accidental, but the exact cause is not known at this time.
