Fire Guts Vacant Waterloo Home

A fire destroyed a vacant home in Waterloo late Saturday night.  Fire crews were called to a house at 420 Bayard St,  not far from the six-corners intersection, around 11:00 PM.  A neighbor reported hearing popping sounds, looked out the window, saw the fire and called 911.  Waterloo Fire Rescue spent more than five-and-a-half hours at the scene, putting out the fire and various hotspots.

Officials say the two-story home is a “complete loss.”  The heat from the fire damaged two adjacent homes.  All utilities at the home were turned off.  A cause for the fire has not been determined as yet.
